Nicolas Cage to Feature in Live-Action Spider-Man Noir Series

Nicolas Cage

Nicolas Cage is swinging into a new live-action role. The Academy Award-winning actor will portray Spider-Man Noir in a gritty series titled “Noir.” Based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, the show will offer a dark and suspenseful take on the web-slinger.

Set in 1930s New York City, “Noir” follows a story about an unlucky private investigator who is forced to grapple with a secret past. This casting choice is exciting for fans of both Cage and the Spider-Man Noir character.

Cage’s distinctive acting style and captivating screen presence are a perfect fit for the world-weary hero.  Notably, he previously voiced Spider-Man Noir in the animated film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.”

“Noir” will mark Cage’s first series regular role on television, a new venture for the accomplished actor.

Spider-Man Noir Joins Amazon’s Expanding Roster of Sony-Marvel Projects

“Noir” is the second Sony-Marvel project to be greenlit for Amazon. The series joins “Silk: Spider Society,” led by showrunner Angela Kang, which is also in development at the streaming giant.

There are more Marvel shows being planned for Amazon, but the spokespeople didn’t give any details about the characters that will be included.

On the flip side, Sony has an amazing number of more than 900 characters linked to the Spider-Man franchise, which means the company has a big pool of heroes and villains for use in future projects.

Harry Bradbeer, who has directed winning shows such as “Fleabag” and “Killing Eve,” is going to be the executive producer and director of the first two episodes of “Noir”. The series is a joint venture between Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the creative minds behind “The Mitchells vs. The Machines” and the “21 Jump Street” films, will also be on board in the production of “Noir”.

With this professional team put together, the movie will be a must-see for lovers of superhero films and neo-noir scary movies.
