Five persons have been charged by Argentine police with the death of Liam Payne, the former member of One Direction, who died on October 16th, 2024 after falling from a third-floor balcony at a hotel in Buenos Aires.
According to a statement from the local prosecutor’s office, three of the people charged work at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel, where Mr. Payne passed away.
Based on a report from tests performed during an autopsy, the local prosecutor’s office believes that Mr. Payne’s system included cocaine, alcohol, and a prescription antidepressant at the time of his death on October 16.
Given the conclusion that Mr. Payne fell while unconscious, this implies that he didn’t commit suicide. The autopsy stipulates that the singer passed away from “internal and external bleeding” and “multiple trauma.”

What Roles Did These Five People Charged With Payne’s Death Play?
Laura Bruniard, the investigating judge, indicted the five on Dec. 27, stating that video from the hotel demonstrated Mr. Payne’s incapacity to take care of himself.
Pereyra, a hotel employee, is charged with receiving payment to supply cocaine to Payne on October 15 at 3:25 a.m. and later on October 16 between 3:30 and 4:00 p.m. According to the prosecution, Payne sent a car to Pereyra’s house to “bring him more narcotics.”
On October 14 at 3:24 a.m., Payne allegedly paid server Paiz, whom he met at a neighborhood restaurant in Puerto Madero, to bring cocaine to the celebrity, who remained in Payne’s room until 8:15 a.m. At 10:03 a.m., he allegedly went out, got more cocaine, and gave it to Payne. Payne also took a taxi to Paiz’s house before heading back to the hotel.
Mr. Nores is accused of breaching his duty of care by abandoning Mr. Payne while intoxicated. According to the authorities, he was with Mr. Payne every day during his vacation to Buenos Aires.
He had previously been asked to be charged with the more serious crime of abandonment of a person followed by death, which carries a sentence of five to fifteen years in jail.
Also, the prosecutors claim that Grassi, the hotel reception manager, when Payne died was also in the lobby. It was alleged that instead of making sure Payne was safe, he “led a group of three people who dragged Payne to his room moments before his death” rather than waiting for him to get medical attention.
The death of Liam Payne has still left a lot of fans in shock and thrown his family and other celebrities into mourning.
