Neva Howell has been chosen to play Martha Kent in James Gunn’s upcoming movie Superman. Martha Kent is the wife of Jonathan Kent and the person who raises Superman, also known as Clark Kent, on Earth.
This news comes shortly after the announcement that Pruitt Taylor Vince will be playing Jonathan Kent. Before being chosen for the role of Martha Kent, Howell appeared in projects quite different from the upcoming superhero film.
She recently played Miss Roberts in Ghosts of the Ozarks, a thriller about a haunted colony affected by the Civil War aftermath.
Also, Howell is recognized for her portrayal of Gina in Burden, a drama about an orphan who escapes a contentious upbringing. The film starred Garrett Hedlund and Forest Whitaker.
Other actors include Nicholas Hoult plays the role of Lex Luthor, David Corenswet Acts as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan who plays Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo plays Jimmy Olsen, and Sara Sampaio plays Eve Teschmacher.
There’s Wendell Pierce who acts as Perry White, Nathan Fillion plays Green Lantern, while Isabela Merced and Edi Gathegi play Hawkgirl and Mister Terrific respectively. María Gabriela de Faría acts as The Engineer, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.

James Gunn is directing the new Superman movie and working closely with Peter Safran to plan out the future of the franchise.
They’ve been hired by Warner Bros. to oversee the storylines across movies, TV shows, and even video games. Gunn also wrote the script for the upcoming film, just like he did for the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.
Warner Bros. is also working on other movies for the franchise, like Swamp Thing, The Brave and the Bold, and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, hoping to make the DC brand successful again. Meanwhile, the new Superman will be released on July 11, 2025.
