Warner Bros Discovery said at its Max streaming event that a new era for Harry Potter lovers is on the way. A TV show based on J.K. Rowling’s seven books about the child wizard has been announced by the production business. Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, of HBO & Max Content, described the upcoming project as “a faithful adaptation” and promised fans that it will “dig deep into each of the great novels that fans have come to appreciate for all of these years.”
Harry Potter series release date
Given that Warner Bros. Discovery is launching a highly publicized overhaul of its streaming service, even changing the name from HBO Max to just Max, it’s a safe bet that the company wants Harry Potter wizarding on the platform as soon as possible. The series is scheduled to premiere in 2025 or 2026. In the same vein, J.K. Rowling’s production firm reported a 74% decline in earnings last year.
What is going to happen in the new Harry Potter TV series?
According to Casey Bloys, the goal of the remake is to allow a new generation of Harry Potter fans to “experience Hogwarts in a whole new manner.” Casey is the chairman of HBO Max and thus wants this series to be exceptionally well.

Bloys stated, “We have been trying to play it extremely close to the vest. “We didn’t contact any agency. We each go through our own internal processes when we consider individuals but choose not to venture outside. As soon as the news spreads, we’ll start visiting businesses.”
“Never say never when it comes to any of the movie franchise’s actors. Including Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. That would undoubtedly improve the series’ reputation, and while fresh actors will be chosen for the lead parts. There are always flashbacks or the popular multiverse story device that might make room for more well-known performers.”
However, a completely new cast will take on the iconic parts that Radcliffe, Emma Watson (Hermione Granger), and Rupert Grint originally played (Ron Weasley).
Daniel Radcliffe’s perspective on the show
In a recent interview with Comicbook. Daniel made it clear that he is not playing the role of harry potter in the series. He also stated- “According to what I hear, they’re attempting to start completely from scratch. I’m sure whoever is producing them will want to leave their stamp on it and won’t want to have to figure out how to get old Harry to make a cameo someplace.”
He also added, “I’m not looking for it in any manner, I assure you. But, I do wish them the best of luck and am thrilled to see the torch transferred to others. Yet, I don’t believe I have to physically pass it.”
