Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie divorce has reached a turning point as the former couple has settled a major part of their long-running separation battle. Jolie’s lawyer confirmed that the agreement resolves a key issue in the eight-year process.

The lawyer explained that while the settlement is a step forward, the separation remains a complex and ongoing matter. He noted that Jolie is feeling drained after years of legal disputes but is relieved to have made progress.

Pitt and Jolie, who became one of Hollywood’s most famous couples after meeting on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2005, were married in 2014 at a private ceremony in France. However, their relationship started having issues just two years later when Jolie filed for divorce, sparking a series of legal battles that have dominated headlines.

Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt on September 19, 2016, days after a private plane flight where she claimed Pitt was abusive toward her and their six children. Authorities investigated the allegations, but no charges were filed, and Jolie decided not to pursue legal action.

After the divorce filing, Jolie and her children never returned to their former family home, Château Miraval, according to her lawyers.

Four months later, in January 2017, Jolie and Pitt released a joint statement announcing they had agreed to handle their divorce privately. They decided to use a private judge to resolve their legal matters to protect their children’s privacy and keep future details confidential.

“The parties and their counsel have signed agreements to preserve the privacy rights of their children and family by keeping all court documents confidential and engaging a private judge to make any necessary legal decisions,” the statement read.

In 2019, Jolie and Pitt’s divorce was finalized and declared legally single. Since then, Pitt has moved on and has been dating jewelry executive Ines de Ramon since 2022.

Despite finalizing their divorce, the ex-couple has continued to face legal battles, including disputes over custody and their shared $164 million French estate and winery, Château Miraval. This estate, once a symbol of their love, has now become another point of contention in their long-running legal saga.
