The young woman, who has been in the spotlight since birth due to her parents’ high-profile status, has decided to drop her father’s last name, ‘Pitt.’ This choice comes as part of her journey toward establishing her own identity, separate from the legacy of her famous parents.

Growing up in the limelight, Jolie and Pitt’s children have often been subject to intense media scrutiny. The family has generally kept their personal lives private, but they published this decision in a newspaper. While many may not understand, this is not an act of attention-seeking.

Why is Shiloh Removing Pitt from Her Name?

Reportedly, even after the divorce of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, the legal war has not yet ended. It is believed that Shiloh is going to remove “Pitt” from her name to ensure she, like her other elder siblings, is not connected to Brad Pitt.

As for Pitt, he is still in touch with the younger children but not with adults. Even his interaction with their younger children is limited due to his working schedule and so, the children remain close to Angelina for most of the time.

Why was Shiloh’s Name Change published in the Los Angeles Times?

Under California law, individuals seeking to change their name are required to publish the order to show cause form in a newspaper for at least four consecutive weeks before the court date to prevent delays in the process.

Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt filed a petition to change her last name in Los Angeles County Court, a month ago.

Therefore, the Los Angeles Times has published Shiloh’s name change weekly since June 17, 2024. She is proposing to change her name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie.

This makes the publication a legal necessity rather than a publicity stunt. Shiloh may change her name but she remains the child of two superstars. She hardly needs to do anything to gain the media’s attention.

Shiloh isn’t the only child of the celebrity couple to remove her father’s name. Vivienne, Shiloh’s younger sister, appeared as Vivienne Jolie in the Playbill for The Outsiders. Additionally, Zahara also uses the name ‘Zahara Marley Jolie’; again, without “Pitt”.
